NFL Draft

Draft Profile: Miami RB Travis Homer – Phong Ta

by Phong Ta

Travis Homer

5’11, 195 lbs, Junior

2018 stats(13 Gms):

164 carries, 985 rushing yards, 5 rushing TDs, 19 receptions, 186 receiving yards

Strengths:

-Elusiveness: Has great wiggle in him that will allow him to avoid defenders both in the box and in space.

-Big Play Ability: With his combination of speed, elusiveness and vision, he often times would pick up big gains for Miami where none seemed present.

-Physicality: While not a bruiser at his size, Homer has more than demonstrated a willingness to lower his pad level to generate extra yardage at the end of runs.

-Pass Protection: Normally a struggle for most young runners, Homer is very solid in pass protection, which should only help him in earning snaps early on in his NFL career.

Weaknesses:

-Size: Though his willingness to put his shoulder down and power out a few extra yards at the end of runs is admirable, at his size, it remains a question mark of if this could lead to injury for him against larger NFL defenders.

A likely Day 3 pick, Homer should prove a good selection for whichever team picks him up. He is a speedy, elusive runner who isn’t afraid to take defenders head on. Has proven to be a proficient pass-catcher as well. He’ll do well as the “lightning” half to a more physical, power based runner in an NFL leaning more and more towards RBBC.
