NFL Draft

Draft Profile: Massechusetts WR Andy Isabella – Chris Kuhn

by Chris Kuhn

Andy Isabella

5’9 188 pounds Senior out of Massachusetts

2018 Stats

102 Receptions, 1,698 yards, 13 Touchdowns

Strengths

Surprisingly enough, this slot WR is jumping off the charts in his senior year. Isabella led the NCAA in receiving yards, as well as tying for the 3rd best 40 times in the combine. Isabella could be a dangerous addition to any team with a coach that knows how to use him. He is very similar to New England Patriots WR, Julian Edelman, in stature and play style. Isabella can be used as a Swiss Army knife to open up any offense. Isabella jumped off the film during his senior year and is likely to be on some NFL highlight reels in his future.

Weaknesses

Isabella has a lot of football experience, playing all four years of his college career. However, he has not had much experience against legit NFL coverage. The fact that Massachusetts isn’t a power-five team and has a weak schedule puts Isabella at a much larger learning curve compared to the other WR’s in the draft class. When one considers Isabella is of a smaller size and a much bigger learning curve than most in this draft class, his draft value will take a dip.

Overall

Isabella is a player to keep your eye on. His draft value should put him on many different teams’ radar. If Isabella could land on a team that knows how to use his talent, he could be a legit NFL starting WR very quickly. Every football fan would love to see what a coach like Bill Belichick or Doug Pederson could do with a talent like Andy Isabella. However, with the wrong franchise to support him, he could be a lost talent.
